The multi-sport discipline of triathlon, made famous in the UK by Leeds-based Olympians the Brownlees, now has it’s very own bi-annual event in Holmfirth.
Brought to you by The Summer Tri Series, the sprint triathlon starts at the Holmfirth Pool and Fitness Centre, with a pool swim of 400m (20 lengths), followed by a bike ride of 24km which encompasses an 8km loop, taking in Holmfirth, New Mill and through to Brockholes. Finally, the 5.7km run takes a similar route down to New Mill then back towards Thongsbridge before returning once again to the starting point for a sprint finish.
The Summer Tri Series includes 2 sprint triathlons; First of the Summer Tri and Last of the Summer Tri, set in the prime location of Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, within easy reach of Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds.
First of the Summer Tri as the name suggests is our first summer sprint triathlon, usually taking place in the first weeks of April or May and Last of the Summer Tri usually takes place in September or October, but check our events page for confirmed dates.
Our triathlon events rely on friendly, approachable and enthusiastic people just like you to support our athletes, in a range of roles including registration, pool counting, transition, start / stop dismount, marshalling and generally helping make the event run as smoothly as possible.
If you could spare us an hour or two, or maybe the whole event, which usually lasts five hours from registration to the last athlete over the line, we've love to hear from you.
In return for your help you will receive free entry into one of our events as well food and drinks on the day.
